Dear PTC:

Please explain to me why you are promoting Designwave.  I see ProE and PTM as
you upper and lower end products.  How does Designwave fit into your product
line?  

Designwave came about due to the aquisition of Computervision.  As to what
they're going to do with it now, is anybodies guess.

I have seen trade magazine advertising for Designwave, so I can assume PTC will
selling this product for awhile.  So, I assume in the short-term future that
Designwave competes with PTM and ProE.

As I see it,

Designwave will fit into the ease of use solid modeling market place. It was
built on the MFC foundation and has all of the bells and whistles you would
expect from a windows based product. I don't think Pro/E and PTM will suffer
much from the arrival of designwave because they are mature products and are
established in the design community. On the other hand, the other solid-x
companies should be keeping a close eye on this new up-bringing. What would
you chose:

1. An easy to use solid-modeling package from the #1 PTC
2. or from a distant #2 company in France,
3. or from some company that doesn't make the charts?

 I think designwave is on a fast-track and will be a serious contender in
the easy to use windows based solid modelers.
