Does any one know any good website which teaches ppl Auto CAD? Especially
drawing in 3D? Thank you very much!!

I don't know of any sites except your own station. 3D is hard to get a handle on but
once you get it, especially your USC orientation, you can fly with it. I've been
doing 3D for years and I use programs from the 'Survivors Kit' from EMT Software (for
14 or A2K). Unbelievable programs and they're cheap ($345 last time I checked).
Ever try to draw a 3D thread on or in anything? This little program has it all:
fasteners, threads, etc. in about any standard you can imagine (including the
Japanese stuff). I also will take your 3D part (in REGIONS, not solids) and give you
9 different 2D views including 4 isos. It's seamless with AutoCAD and even has a
toolbar while you're in a drawing. BTW, I work at Disney and we only use regions
instead of solids. Reason: the drawing produces an ACIS compatible file that you can
export to other programs so that it 'sees' your solid as a solid. The books I've
gotten don't say much about regions but they're just as easy to work with as solids
are.
I just saw a drawing of an ant's head we have in the Animal Kingdom here at WDW with
186 parts (it's animated; eyebrows, eyelashes, eyes and mouth). Small? Yea. You
can put the whole assembly in the palm of your hand. Talk about heavy-duty 3D.
Disney makes their own air cylinders for things like this (1/8" bore, 1/32" rod and a
1/2" stroke are very typical). You can't thread the rods but you rely on gravity,
where possible, or very small springs. For things like this, you have to use 3D to
make sure everything fits. You can't do it realistically in 2D because of the
complexity.
Hang in there and never, never, never, never, never give up. And, if possible, get
paid to learn 3D.
A little trick in AutoCAD that's undocumented: when you trim or extend things, evoke
the command and instead of picking the trim/extend to entity, just hit 'enter' and
click on your lines. It will automatically trim/extend to the next available line or
entity.
Also, in A2K, you can stretch solids and do other things that you cannot do in 14.
The part can even be shaded while you're changing it.
