Just to notify anyone who might be syncing off of

I'll be moving to ntp version 3 during the 19th and 20th of March. While
the conversion is taking place, our service may be unavailable or intermittent.
It will certainly be unreliable until we have finished testing the new version
with our local reference clock.

If all goes well, we'll be back on the air by the end of the 19th. If not,
service may not return until sometime on the 20th.

1. going down in the week of Feb 11

The stratum 1 server will go down for 2-3 days
in the week of 11 Feb, to be upgraded from a DS5400 to 5500. This will
also be accompanied by an OS upgrade, which will entail installing the
clock line discipline in the new kernel. I expect 2-3 days interruption in
service, and a few more days where the machine might get rebooted
more often than a time server should.

When I know the exact dates, I'll post again.

European users of can get stratum 2 service from:         (

When comes back up, it will have a new alias:       (
The old address and name will still work for the near future.
The address will work now, but the alias is not
yet registered.

There are currently about 10 European sites taking time from iis.
