I have a tandy 5 meg hard drive system ,the old black case one made 1982. I
took out the old tandon full size 5 meg hard disk and put a seagate st251-1 40
meg in it .well as i was doing this i noted 3 wires hard wired to the botton of
the old tandon ,and found out that they have something to do with the active
lite and write protect button on the case .well i can get the model 3 to see
the 40meg disk by it says its write protected .question is can any body tell me
were the wires hook up on a st251-1 to unlock the write protect on the
controller board ? and get my active lite to work again? i have 3 wires
,white,yellow,orange,that are hard wired to the pc board of the tandon 5meg.

If that's the drive for the Model III, IV 12 etc, they did have a
write protect button and light on the front of the drive.

You can go to www.trs-80.com. On the left are options. Pick Patches/Tricks,
then HW Mods. The info you need is listed under hard drive bubble repair.
The wires are described and workaround options are provided.
