Information Technology Software Programmer Conference
October 24 and 25, 1997, UMBC Campus  

BALTIMORE, MD -- As part of Tech Month 97, UMBC Continuing Education, the
GBC Technology Council, and CITEC (Citizens Information Technology
Education Corporation) are sponsoring The First Annual Information
Technology Software Programmer Conference, October 24 and 25 on the UMBC
campus.

Conference topics range from Project Management for the Software
Programmer and IT Professional to Creating Applications for Electronic
Commerce on the Internet  and Developing Games and Other Interactive Tools
for Consumers.

The conference is designed for professionals in the software
industrymarketing professionals in information technology, recent
university graduates who want to sharpen their skills and explore career
possibilities, and those who are looking for new opportunities and
challenges.

Participants at the conference will have a chance to talk with
representatives from Trusted Information Systems, Firaxis Games and other
leading Maryland software developers and providers. Workshops will be
offered to help build marketable skills. Expert speakers will discuss
industry trends, and there will be an opportunity to network with business
leaders, company representatives, and peers.

Keynote speaker is Jeff Briggs, President and CEO of Firaxis Games. Briggs
also has  been Director of Product Development at MicroProse Software,
where he helped  to make the companys line of stategy games and Sid Meier
Games the two most successful product lines ever produced by the company.
He has also created such popular titles as F-117A Stealth Fighter and
Knights of the Sky.
