DEC VAX and PC-DOS ASCII

DEC VAX and PC-DOS ASCII

Post by Glenn Sherm » Mon, 07 Feb 1994 05:12:37

Our business is medical transcription and we need to communicate our output
back to the hospital's VAX computer.   Is it easily possible to send ASCII
files to the VAX?  We can output from WordPerfect to ASCII of course and we
could send that output via modem to the client, however we need to be certain
that it gets to the mini in a format that can be easily accessed.  Will this
work?  Any other thoughts on this issue?

Any speedy assistance in this matter will be GREATLY appreciated.

1. Procomm capture of ASCII from DEC to PC - HELP

I am running an Alpha OpenVMS 7.1.  I am trying to capture an ASCII file
from our Alpha onto a PC using an old version of Procomm, the file
contains one record (comma delimited).  The file that I end up with on
the PC side is strange however.  The 1st line is 950 characters in
length with a carriage return/linefeed at 950.  The subsequent lines are
81 characters in length.  Is there some setting that I need to adjust on
the Alpha?  Procomm's settings are correct as I have used the same
script and settings in Procomm with another platform (MAI Basic-4) and I
have never had a problem with CR/LF's showing up in the middle of
records.
