Availability of OSF/1 patches via www/ftp from UK

A while ago I was delighted to see that DEC's patches were listed and
available via the Internet.

It appeared that all I needed was a DSNLink ID and authorisation key.

I contacted our Sales Office to obtain this who directed me to the CSC.

They firstly said authorisation was included in the VMS DSNLink
license - I explained that I did not have VMS.

They eventually came back and said that these patches were only
available for customers in the USA.

Is this really correct?
If not how do I go about getting access to them?

It is true that I can log a call with CSC and they will email me the
patch but it would be a lot easier if I could get them directly.

Tim.

Yes, unfortunately this is true. I have a call open at CSC Switzerland to get
access to the patches via FTP since October last year. It seems to be a general
problem of DEC Europe. They don't want to takeover the US solution of a FTP
server, but have ideas of installating their own system, which seems to be very
complicated, what I heared here. Contrary to what they say at DECUS, Digital is
*not* listening to customers in this case!

As we have removed the last VAX from our cluster and are running Alphas only,
we don't have access to DSIN anymore. So we use WWW to search the patches and
then order them from CSC Switzerland via *TAPE*! Long live productivity and
user-friendliness!
