Vax AXP 2000/500 and AXP 2100

I hope someone can help me to address the following questions:-

1. What is the maximum memory capacity for AXP 2000 model 500?

Note: Information retreive from WWW.DIGTAL.COM is inconsistant.

128 MB for the article title 'ALPHA AXP Systems', and

256 MB for the article title 'Alpha AXP Systems Summary'.

2. Can AXP 2100 and AXP 8xxx support CI Clustering?

Thanks

Pass on this one....

The AXP 8xxx will support CI clustering via a CI card in an XMI card cage.
I do not believe that there is a PCI CI card yet hence the need for an XMI
on an 8xxx. It is therefore probable that until a PCI CI card is available
that an AXP2100 is not CI clusterable. It is however DSSI clusterable.

1. Oracle appilication : AXP 2100 ( 2 x CPU 200 Mhz ) or AXP 1000 ( 400 Mhz )

We'll be installing a software ( LIMS by Perkin Elmer based on Oracle ) by
the end of the year.
We have two options in terms of hardware :

- add a second CPU to our 2100 ( has one CPU 200 Mhz now )
- replace this by a 1000 ( one CPU at 400 Mhz )

RAM space will be 256 MB, concurrent users : 10 , Open VMS V6.1

Some people claim that the first option is the best, since in an OpenVMS
environment, batch jobs seem to monopolize the CPU and slow down the
interactive processes.

Is this true ? We find this hard to beleive.

Thanks for all info,

regards,
Erik
