CVS-1.10 on Solaris 2.7?

CVS-1.10 on Solaris 2.7?

Post by sdav » Fri, 19 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hello,

Has anyone got cvs-1.10 running on Solaris 2.7?  I've searched around (esp
cyclic) for binaries of cvs-1.10 for Solaris 2.7 but haven't found any and
am having trouble creating cvs-1.10.5.  I tried the straight 1.10 release
but couldn't get that to build at all.  I've been able to build 1.10.5 but
it fails the self tests at:

This test should produce no other output than this line, and a final "OK".
expr: No remembered search string
FAIL: basica-o7
make[1]: *** [check] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/stephen/cvs-1.10.5/src'
make: *** [check] Error 1

Depending on how I run ./configure I can get the self-check to fail in
different places (basica, basica-o7, basic2-64, etc.).

Help?

I've just built cvs-1.10.5 on Solaris 2.7 using egcs-1.1.1 and it passes every
test except rcs3-7.  Perhaps you should use gcc to build cvs instead of the
Sun compiler?  BTW, this Solaris 7 machine is so new that I can't tell you yet
how CVS works in real life.

Actually I used gcc 2.8.1 since the machine doesn't have the sun
compiler.  Perhaps I'll try egcs-1.1.1 and see what I get.

Likewise, this machine is also brand new and I have cvs 1.9 on it but
don't know how well it works.  I would rather be using 1.10.x for its new
features and the fact that it no longer relies on a separate diff or rcs
utilities and its improved supported for encrypted server communication.

1. can't build CVS-1.10 on Solaris 7 x86

On a more or less generic x86 Solaris 7 machine, using egcs-1.1.2 and
gnu tools, I get this error when I try to build CVS:

server.c:62: krb5.h: No such file or directory

I get this even when I do

./configure --without-gssapi

I was unable to find any mention of this on Dejanews.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon Bernard
