does anyone know when the second edition of "Operating Systems" will
be available (in Germany) ?

The book has been shipping from Prentice-Hall's US warehouse since before
Christmas. If you are looking for the German translation, I don't know. I
particularly need the Spanish translation and I was told that the work of
translating is not begun until the English version has been published, and
that the translated version would be available about six months later.
Thus I don't expect to see the Spanish edition until July at the earliest.
I presume the procedures are similar for other international editions.

Last November I enquired of Prentice Hall in the UK, who handle
Europe, when this book will be available and the reply was that it would
be available on 10.10.97 for UKpounds 26.95 in hardback only.
There was no explanation of the long delay!

The price sounds unlikely; the hardback is $60 in the US.  OTOH, the
paperback student's edition 1 cost 16.95 UK pounds in 1987, and there
might be a similar student's edition 2 outside the US.

Check again, giving the (hardback) ISBN 0-13-638677-6.

Only the 10/10/97 date was wrong - do not know how that arose,
I now have a copy - thanks Will.
