Opening an excel file while excel is open

Post by Jit Bhattachar » Sat, 23 Dec 2000 02:28:34

Hi all,

I am trying to open an excel workbook while Excel is open, using SCL code. I
know how to open a new excel session and then open a workbook with the following
code -

hostcl = loadclass('sashelp.fsp.hauto');
 call send (hostcl,'_new_',excelobj,0,'excel.application.5');
 call send (excelobj,'_set_property_','visible','true');
 call send (excelobj,'_get_property_','workbooks',tst) ;
 call send(tst,'_do_','open','H:\my documents\projects.xls' );

Is there a way to open the worrkbook in an existing Excel session? I am stumped
on how to get the object id of the existing Excel session using SCL.
Any help would be much appreciated.

regards

Jit

Hy and happy new year.
I wante run proc Reg but the dependent variable looks like Poisson
Distribution. Whith Proc Reg I get a too small R-Square  (0.0596).

If I use GLIMMIXED Macro, I can not assess the fitness.
Some one can give advice?
Is there an other to Proc Reg?
Thanks.

Take a look at PROC GENMOD.

Jay.

While PROC GENMOD can do what you request, I feel the need to point out
two things.  One, the distribution of the dependent variable is usually
irrelevant to standard regression, since the requirement is that the
ERROR TERM be normally distributed, not the Y's.  The Y's will be affected
by the distribution of your X's too.  And two, if you are getting that
small an R-squared, then perhaps you need to examine the data with plots
and re-consider your choice of model.  Unless you have a clear but
distinctly
nonlinear relationship between X and Y which you plan on capturing with a
different model, I don't see your R-squared improving significantly due to
a
change in the analytical tool.

Dear Experts

I am attaching two excel files. One is having Student data.

I am having an userform in another excel file to prepare student marks
information.

Can I connect to the similar fields in the student data.xls without opening
it from the student marks.xls  by clicking UPDATE command button on the
userform?

waiting for your valuable replies.
