This is your TWO WEEKS NOTICE ...

OK, that may have been a little abrupt.  But we wanted to let you know that
nominations are now open for our annual SAS-L awards, and you have until
FEBRUARY 3 to get your nominations in!

As usual, this process is organized (very loosely speaking) by the SUGI 28
SAS-L BOF Planning Committee (see end of message for list of the guilty
parties).  We need your nominations for:

          "MOST VALUABLE SAS-Ler" (MVS)
"SAS-L Rookie of the Year" (SASLROY)
"SAS INSTITUTE CONSULTANT OF THE YEAR" (SICY)

Courtesy of Larry Hoyle, you can nominate (and later vote for) deserving
candidates at
http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~ippbr/sugi28/saslbof.htm

If possible include a short testimonial for your nominee (you will have the
choice of remaining anonymous if you desire).  A description of each award
is provided later in this message.

As always, the winners will be announced and recognized at the annual SUGI
SAS-L BOF (Birds of a Feather) get-together.  This year's meeting will be
Tuesday evening, April 1 (no foolin'):

What:  SUGI 28 SAS-L BOF
When:  Tuesday, April 1, 2003
Where: Room 618 [revised]
Time:  7:00-8:00 pm

Keep an eye on SAS-L for more info.

Now for the award details ...

   "Most Valuable SAS-Ler" (MVS)

Nominees should be people whom you feel have contributed most significantly
OVER THE LAST YEAR to this list, namely SAS-L.  Certainly there are MANY
MANY MANY people who are very valuable contributors to the list, but only
the most outstanding will qualify for MVS.

Note that current members of the SAS-L Hall of Fame (Ian Whitlock, Paul
Dorfman, Peter Crawford) are not eligible for nomination as the MVS, in
order to recognize some different people each year.  If any former MVS
winners also finish among the top vote-getters this year, they will be
inducted into the Hall of Fame.

"SAS-L Rookie of the Year" (SASLROY)

The SAS-L Rookie of the Year is an award for somebody who has just
burst upon the scene and has given good advice. Many people post
questions and then re-hibernate. The newbie award is for somebody who
came out of nowhere to address questions in an interesting way.

"SAS Institute Technical Support Consultant of the Year" (SICY)

The "SAS Institute Consultant of the Year" (SICY) award is for the SAS
Institute technical support staff person who has helped you the most.
This person has in some way gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Don't forget, we need to receive all MVS and SASLROY nominations by

*** FEBRUARY 3 ***

Nominations for SICY will remain open until February 24.

Thanks for your support!   Please contact any of the committee members
listed below if you have any questions about the awards or the BOF.
