Greetings Michelle,
You may need to both remove each other from your contact lists (right-click his name and
choose Delete in your list, and he do the same for you). As well, click the Tools menu in
Messenger, then Options, then Privacy tab, and make sure he's not in that list (if he is,
right-click his name there, and choose 'Delete' -- this option will only become available
after he's removed you from his main list). As well, he'll need to make sure you're not in
his Privacy tab list as well.
After this, have him readd you -- most likely it will work.
