There were some slight Passport issues and signing into Messenger about the time you sent

I have 2 PC's (one W2K, one NT4.0) with a router via ADSL on the WWW.
IE and OExpress work perfectly.
Messenger 2.2 on one of the machines worked OK.
I just upgraded it to Messenger 4.5. I cannot sign in anymore and get this
"We were unable to sign you in to .NET messenger service, possible because
of a problem with the service or with your Internet connection. Please make
sure that you are connected to the Internet".
I AM connected and use a valid hotmail account also. Also the .NET service
status is OK. THis happens even with firewall of although the documentation
says signing in should at least always work....
Bug in Messenger 4.5? Or am I overlooking something.
