Trouble copying web from my home to work computer.

Hi there,

So far I published my web that exists on my home computer to a directory on
same computer called 'webcopy'

I copied this folder to a CD

I brought the CD into work this morning and tried to import the web.

FP asked for location of web and I entered 'D:\webcopy\'

Frontpage returned an error saying unable to open
d:\webcopy\_vti_pvt\frontpg.lck    for writing.

I checked the CD and such a directory or file does not exist.

I need  step by step instructions on completing this process please.

What is the problem ?  Do

well, hmm....at first guess i would say that your problem lies in the
fact that frontpage can't write to the cd.  you might wanna try copying
the 'webcopy' directory to a local drive and then publishing/importing
the information to the web of your choice.

From your work location, open the FrontPage Web from the server itself (if
you do not have a WWW server then you can leave your machine online and copy
down the IP address)

If you leave your machine online with the server running, you can hit the
open button in FP and then "More Webs". Type in the IP address  (http://ip
address) to open the web and then publish it back to the machine at work.

Pat,

Your syntax leaves much to the imagination. I would suspect that your use of
the term "import" is the main problem. To create a web from an existing web
on a drive, you would select File|New|FrontPage Web... from the menu. You
would select the "Import an existing web" option, and "From a source
directory of files on a local computer or network" as the final option. Then
you would browse to the location of the files on the CD and go from there.

1. Copy web from work to home and back?

I have a FP (98) web I developed at the office.  However "webmaster" is only
my extra duty, and I am sick of working til midnight at the office.  I would
like to copy the web from work to home and back again.  When I just copy
from the c:\webshare or \wwwroot or ssc-1 [the web folder name] to my home
pc, I can't get FP explorer to see the web.  If I try to import it, I lose
the shared borders and some other stuff too.

I have read this group for several days and also looked at various linked
faq pages--many of which are quite extensive.  This doesn't seem like it
should be such an uncommon requirement, so am I doing something wrong?

Thanks from www.swsolvents.com (my work home page) and www.hia.net/burychka
(my home home page).
