One research position is available at the Object Systems Group in Geneva,

The Object Systems Group was founded in 1986 by Prof. Dennis Tsichritzis. It
is part of the Centre Universitaire d'Informatique at the University of Geneva.
The OSG carries out research in object-oriented technologies with a strong
emphasis on programming languages and multimedia applications. The group has
strong links with the GMD in Germany and collaborates with numerous research
groups in European and Swiss projects.
The OSG is starting a research track on Mobile Object Systems (also called
mobile software agents). A mobile object system allows webs of objects to move
from node to node over a network carrying state and some portion of their code.
The project involves the development and implementation of a programming
language which provides linguistic support for mobile object systems while
avoiding the restrictions and inefficiencies of languages such as Java or
The individual will will work with other research scientists, and graduate
students on the design and implementation of the programming language.
The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in Computer Science (M.Sc.
may be acceptable in special cases), and will demonstrate experience in the
* OO programming language implementation and compilers,
* distributed systems,
* UNIX and C.
Working language is English. Starting salary for applicants with a PhD is
around 60K $US / year. Applicants with a M.Sc. may be considered for
acceptance in the PhD program.
