Hello, Flight-Sim Funs !

After installation of a new motherboard (MS-6309 / Apollo Pro 133A) and
sound card (Aureal Vortex 2) and re-installation of operating system
(Windows 98 SE, DirectX 7.0) my joystick (MS Side Winder 3D Pro) is not
recognized by system and it repots that the device is "not connected". But
if I run any game under DOS, the joystick works fine.

Thanks in advance for any ideas enabling to solve this problem and to
continue my virtual flights.

Did you re-install your sidewinder software?  BTW...the joystick works in
analog mode in dos....Digital mode in Windows

You also probably have the older version of the Sidewinder software on the
disk that came with the stick. Make sure you go to the MS Sidewinder site
and download the new (newest anyway) software. 3.02 I beleive is the
version. www.microsoft.com/hardware/ is the url.

I had the same problem and I found the answer on the Microsoft knowledge
base. It happens with some new hardware combinations. You need the latest
drivers and there is also a patch to install. It fixed the problem. BTW you
also need DirectX 7a.

I had this problem a year or so ago and there is a solution.
Unfortunately I am at the office and my notes are at home so if

when I get home and send to you. Its a setting called DMA
(Direct Memeory Access) but I don't recall how to find it.
