AFX stands for...........

I read this before, but now my mind's a blank. A couple of guys actually
named AFX - AF stood for something and the 'x' was just to make it sound
cool.

Does anyone know what AFX stands for?
Thanks

Application Framework... "X" is appended just to sound cooler (I read this
in "MFC Internals", I think).

I read the same thing as Dan (or Dawn).  Application Frameworks was
correct, but the X was just to make it sound cool.  I know its in one of
the MFC books I have read, but I'm not sure which one.  Of course,
you can't believe everything you read, so maybe Mike B could enlighten.

I always thought it was, Application FrameworX, a "cool" sound-alike for
Frameworks.

At one time it used to be used to represent something unknown and
mysterious, hence "X-ray" and "ActiveX".

Which begs the question why isn't Windows known as Windows-X???
