When I upgraded to Turbo Pascal for Windows 1.5, I asked Borland why there
was no multimedia API documentation. The reason apparently is as above;
apparently, the multimedia stuff are still extensions to Windows. They are
not officially part of the Windows API. This strikes me as being sensible.
If it were officially part of the API, this would imply that a computer
would not be 'Windows compatible' unless it had sound/CD hardware. Making
multimedia an extension means that programmers avoid writing stuff in their
programs that won't run on all hardware.
