Hey there,

I am just want to clarify that is it supposed to have 2 nmbd daemons started
when the SAMBA PDC is up?
I've got this from the proces log:

root      1029     1  0 11:13 ?        00:00:00 /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D
root      1033     1  0 11:13 ?        00:00:00 /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D
root      1034  1033  0 11:13 ?        00:00:00 /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D

Thx

Simon

Mine shows 2 nmbd & 1 smbd process. This seems correct. I'm running Red Hat 9
with Samba 2.2.8a as a PDC.

I don't know what the other process is supposed to do.

1. Two nmbd daemons on same server

Is anyone running two instances of nmbd on the same servers exporting
distinct netbios names / IP addresses.
If so could you send me your smb.conf global file. I can't seem to make this
work.  I get the following error
message but i can't tell samba to behave differently. The smbd seem fine.

bind failed on port 137 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use)
[1999/03/25 12:04:19, 3] lib/util_sock.c:(675)
  bind succeeded on port 8000

9. Samba nmbd daemon won't start

10. nmbd starting as a daemon twice?

11. nmbd: daemon creates a lot of processes

12. Can't get Samba's nmbd daemon to act as a domain controller
