if I turn on my samba engine and turn it off, my computer still appears
continously in the browse list of our group. Even if the computer is turned
off since two days.
The Master Browser is a windows nt server.
What could be wrong?

1. STOP Samba from being a browse list master / backup browse list

How does one configure SMB to NOT be a browsing master in any regard. I
don't wish for SMB to even associate itself to listening to browse list
requests.
