Samba 2.0.6/SCO Openserver 5.0.5 Problems

Post by Dave Gresh » Thu, 17 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I recently de-commissioned a Novel 3.12 Server where my clients
are now using Samba 2.0.6 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 with the latest
patches (rs505a, oss497c and oss600a).

One of my problems is that Swat will show SMBD not running, when
I can see the actual process running.

i also am gettining intermitten error messages from Auto Cad
and Corel Draw where it can not open a file at times.

Here is some bits from my smb.log file, i don't know what
i should be posting from it, but here are some error messages
that are being generated:

my smb.conf is at the bottom.  I am not sure exactly what
i should be posting, as this file ishuge.

Hi,

I am also running Samba 2.06 on the same platform. I did not have any
problems with swat, but I did had some other troubles with long time open
files. Similar messages  likt the one you mentioned
(locking/locking_shm.c:shm_get_share_modes(213)
get_share_modes: process 25413 no longer exists) appeared. The compilation
of Samba (since 2.0.4) defaults on SCO to support oplocks and kernel
oplocks, but it seems that there is a bug in it. If you disable oplocks and
kernel oplocks Samba will run smoothly on your system.

Best regards,

Axel Neumann

I want to install samba 2.2.8a on my SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 to share disks
with centralized logon authentication on a WinNT4.0 PDC, but when i
launch ./configure i receive the message "checking whether to build

Then i tried with "./configure --with-winbind" and then launching make
but i receive this error:
