Newbe - Network password

Post by Gary Cousi » Fri, 11 Feb 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I've just installed Corel Linux as a file\print\web server onto one of my
machines. The network can see the linux machine and it can see them but
whenever a Windows client tries to connect to the linux machine a dialogue box
pops up asking for a password.

I've tried all our windows and linux passwords but none seems to work

Newbe - Network password

Hi, I recently installed corel linux and had the same problem.
I was pissed off so I repeatedly clicked on the stop and refresh
icon at the top right of the corel file manager.  And then the
workgroups appeared and I was able to browse the network.

I was able to repeat that by the following steps:
1.  Click on Windows Network and put in a password (it won't show
    anything on the right).
2.  Now just click on the stop and refresh repeatedly and stop
    when it says navigation cancelled.
3.  The workgroups will appear.

The other thing I remember doing was setting a null samba password
by smbpasswd -a username -n.

I am not sure if it is a bug in corel file manager but you guys can
confirm that I guess.
