SCO Openserver 5.0.5/Samba 2.0.6 Browse Problems

Post by Dave Gresh » Tue, 22 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I am running Samba 2.0.6 in an SCO Openserver 5.0.5 enviornment.  When
I run smbclient -L SCODYNA from the root login, it will first ask
for password, and then it will show the shares, but under server and
workgroups  nothing shows up

I am trying to use Samba for WINS, and currently we have the
following workgrous on one subnet (10.0.0.0/255.255.255.0)
ADMIN ENG ESCS SHOP  DYNA1

I would like to have multiple workgroups use one wins
server.

What is interesting, is if i query a machine name it will respond:

# ./nmblookup edw
querying edw on 10.0.0.255
10.0.0.11 edw<00>

./nmblookup -d 2 '*'
added interface ip=10.0.0.3 bcast=10.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
querying * on 10.0.0.255
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.18 ( 10.0.0.18 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.27 ( 10.0.0.27 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.31 ( 10.0.0.31 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.13 ( 10.0.0.13 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.10 ( 10.0.0.10 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.210 ( 10.0.0.210 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.25 ( 10.0.0.25 )
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.100 ( 10.0.0.100 )

We don't see the ip/netmask of the samba server so we can't see if
samba has really become a master browser.
Check that the clients register themselves by looking into the wins.dat
file (in the samba lock dir).
