Grrr... 2 minutes after I posted this, I found this in the HOWTO (which IQuote:> I've got a problem browsing printers under Win95. I'm using Samba 1.9.16p10
> on Solaris 2.5.1. The system shows up fine in network neighborhood, but when
> you open it, only the printers with names of 8 characters or less show up.
had already looked over once):
ATTENTION! Share names, legal across various subprotocols of SMB, cannot be
longer than eight characters. If all names in your printcap entry are longer
than that then Samba will silently skip such entry and the corresponding
printer will remain hidden to your clients. This does not apply to printer
shares specified explicitely in smb.conf (you will get complaints for names
too long but they will be there if your clients can handle them).
This is kind of irritating, is there any way to disable this?
