Netscape hang responsive to reboot in Win98

Netscape hang responsive to reboot in Win98

Can anyone help??

I frequently have netscape (or is is actually Win98) hang...about once
per day.  I may or may not be doing anything but suddenly netscape is
unable to access anything over my cable modem.  If I type ping in a
dosbox that program also hangs and nothing appears on the dos screen.
Unloading and then restarting Netscape has no affect, still can't even

do a complete reboot all is cop acetic, but who wants to do a cold
reboot??  Does anyone know what has to be reset so I can work around
this hang without restarting my machine? If there is a way to avoid the
problem I'd even be happier.

I've seen something similar to this.  Usually, running winicpfg.exe on the
host machine, releasing the link through the nic you are using, then
renewing it will solve the problem.

On the other hand, netscape can be flakey.  Try using ie5 or another
browser for a couple of days to see if you get the same problems.

1. Enternet 100 (1.310.001) Win98 hangs / resource problems / reboots

Hi,
Looking for others that have been down the path of getting Enternet
100 to work on Win 98 SE.  I've found that it causes a number of hangs
and occaisional spontaneous re-boots of my Win 98 SE system.  I'm
assuming there is some sort of resource 'leak' as I got home tonight
and checked to see if my semi-daily hang had occured and got a message
indicating the system was seiously low on resources.  Just to add to
the madness - ever since I installed Enternet 100, Syhield abends -
when I tried to re-install Syshield - the install abends.  I'm looking
for any input on possible fixes AND experiences with Enternet 300
since it seems Enternet 100 doesn't have a way to get connected at
boot time  - I'm a bit skeptical of spending money on a product whose
earlier version bings down Win 98 multiple times a day.  Any input or
ideas / pointers out there?
Thanks,
Bennie
