Need Cable Drawing Package Recommendation

Post by Paul Lesn » Wed, 03 Aug 1994 21:41:54

I am in search of a Windows or Mac cable design and drawing package.
Something with a library of connectors and cable types would be really
helpful. Has anyone seen such a product.

We are also looking into packages,  but for the Sun X-windows
environment.  We use AUTOcad but want a package that can tie all
the drawing together.  With a database of parts on hand etc..

I was reading the Anixter catalog entry for Northern Telecom's ACS, and
they talked about being able to import graphics from other pkgs.

We use Paradox, with a customized PAL log entry screen, but I know little
about it, since I don't have to use it.  The ladies seem to be satisfied
with it.  It's not graphics at all.

We keep our floor layouts in WordPerfect Presentations.  WE used to have
them in H-P Draw Gallery.  But it's no longer supported by H-P.

We currently utilize a package called LAN D/S. It is a full cabling design
package for AutoCad. This package, in combination with some specialized
software from AMP, allows us to do full documentation, design, and
specifying with our Engineering Department.

The software can be purchased from:

I don't know how much it was (I'm an engineer..not an accountant)

1. Modem Auto-Dialer Packages / Recommendations Needed

Topic: Modem Auto-Dialer Packages / Recommendations

I am looking for information on any Modem Auto-Dialer Packages that
enable communications with other systems over telecommunications
facilities and was wondering if anyone out there had any experience
with various packages in terms of :
  - user interface / ease of use
  - number and types of modems that they support
  - pros and cons
  - any other pertinent information.

(In case you are wondering, this package needs to be compatible with
Interactive UNIX (386/ix).  I am trying to determine whether
there are better dialer packages to be had than the "cu" available
in Interactive UNIX or whether "cu" is the way to go.)

Thanks.
