I would encourage anyone who is thinking of signing up with Road
Runner to take a look at the following first, it may save you a lot of
problems:  www.wizvax.net/airborne/roadrunner/complaint.html.

This is not necessarily indicative of service in other areas services
by Road Runner, it only speaks for my experiences in the Albany area.

Mine was installed on Monday, and I love it!!!!!  I have it installed on an
NT server, and have installed MS Proxy server on it also...this with a 2nd
NIC (which sits on my house LAN) enables every station to enjoy awesome
speeds.

I doubt I'll use my modem for much of anything now!!!  I can get to my Notes
servers, the web, ftp, NetMeeting.....Kudos to time warner!!!

The install is actually fairly straight forward...a team of 2 come out...a
PC guy, and the cable guy (it wasn't Jim Carey).  The cable guys checks your
signal strength, and calls back to the home office to enable the connection,
while the pc guy puts in a NIC (if necessary)...takes out any other NICs you
may have in (their policy is not to fight IRQ conflicts...so the take out
any other nics...they only have a 2hr install window, then they have to move
on to someone else and someone else will come in and finish.

They use DHCP to obtain your IP info...install goes best if you do have a
3.5" floppy and a CD drive on the machine being installed.

As far as I'm concerned this is the Net's best kept secret, and will truly
change people's behaviour.

Good luck.
