Multiple PC's on AT&T @HOME

Post by Jerry Krant » Fri, 19 Jan 2001 11:43:08

I was wondering if someone might tell me what type of setup would work

attempted to set up 2 PC's at once and was wondering if someone has had
success doing it.

I'd like to know what brand/model of equipment is needed to set this up.

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

You need to go to the following site and read up on what it takes to
accomplish your goal.

1. Connecting multiple PC's to cable with multiple IP's

I am trying to connect 4 independent PC's to my cable modem through a hub.
My ISP provides me with 4 dynamic IP's. The PC's are not connected to each
other in a LAN and do NOT need to be.

I can successfully connect to the Internet when I connect one PC directly to
the cable modem, but when connecting the cable modem to the uplink port of
the hub and the PC to the first free port of the hub, I get NO connection.

What am I doing wrong? Can I use a hub, or do I need to use a router?

I plan to install personal firewall sw on each machine, but can anyone
recommend a better solution without building a LAN?

Thanks
/ Jens
