: Our office has had a Windows for Workgroups network with an NT

: appears to see the LaserJet because it shows up in the list of

Hi,
My experience with this is limited (one successfull after one failure :)),
but I think NT forgets the details of the connection, the important ones
like the Ethernet address of the LaserJet. Go into Printer
Properties, in the Control Panel, Printers, and then when you press Details,
you should find a list box that has the address of your printer card.

I think? ;-)

1. NT 3.5 server & HP LaserJet 4M Plus

Our office has had a Windows for Workgroups network with an NT
server for about a year now.  Up to this point we've been using
thin coax for our ethernet network.  About 6 months ago we bought
an HP LaserJet 4M Plus that has it's own built-in ethernet
connections (coax, 10 base-T, and Appletalk).  We were able to
get the printer set up on the network and configured with our NT
server without any problems whatsoever.  (We were using NTAS 3.1
when we first configured the printer.)

Since our office has grown quite a bit we recently gave up the
coax network for a couple of Ethernet hubs and 10 Base-T
connections.  Everything went without a hitch except for the
laser printer.  We had to delete the printer from NT and now
can't get it properly reconfigured.  The NT 3.5 server can be
seen by all the workstations and vice versa.  The NT server also
appears to see the LaserJet because it shows up in the list of
possible connections in Print Manager (along with LPT1, LPT2,
etc.).  However when we install a printer driver in NT and try to
print to it nothing ever comes out of the LaserJet.  We ran the
diagnostics on the printer and it shows that its 10 Base T
connection is valid (as does our hub).  But nothing we've done
has gotten our NT server to print to it...
