adapter won't renew

For some reason, my adapter won't renew the address.  I can release it, but
it just errors me out when I try to renew.  Any suggestions?

The message is IP Configuration
Error
DHCP Server Unavailable: Renewing adapter '"'

there is no default gateway, and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0.  Ideas?

I don't know if this will apply to your situation. I could not connect
to my router with a third machine. When I tried to renew I got that
exact message. Turns out when I set the router to supply 3 machines,
as a DHCP server, the setting did not take. Went back, changed the
setting from 2 to 3(machines), and that fixed it.

I guess my question should have been better.  In addition to the error
message, you also need to post information about your setup.  What are you
using as a dhcp server - a router, ICS, etc.
