VPN Connection Problem

VPN Connection Problem

All,

Can anyone help me.  I am having problems connecting to my office server
(NT4 using BT ADSL) from my home pc (Windows XP on NTL Cable Modem).  I can
connect to the office server fine, getting three statements

1.  Connecting to My VPN Connection
2.  Verifying username and password
3.  Registering your computer on the network

Then in the system tray, I get the message saying that I am successfully
connected.  I can even call up the connection properties, which show that
3,097 bytes have been sent and 64 have been received.

All good so far.  The problem is that I can run an ipconfig and get the IP
settings.  These all seem fine, and the VPN connection appears.  One thing
that does concern me is that the subnet mask is set to be 255.255.255.255 on
the VPN, whereas the network on the office end is 255.255.255.0.  Is this a
conflict with my local subnet (255.255.255.0) causing it to adjust?  The
results of an ipconfig command are as follows :

Windows IP Configuration

        Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.170.24

Now the fun starts.

My internet access then goes down.  Then after 43 seconds (always exactly 43
seconds!) the VPN connection terminates saying that it failed.  Then
internet access comes back up.

During the glorious 43 seconds where I appear to be connected, I cannot ping
any of the machines on the office lan (including the server I am connecting
to!).  The server at the office records that I have logged in and
disconnected over a VPN connection.

Any suggestions?

TIA

1. VPN connection problems using Wireless-G Router w/ SpeedBooster (WRT54GS)

Hi all,

I've recently switched over to a Linksys wireless router (WRT54GS) and I've
also updated the firmware to the latest revision from the Linksys website.
When I try to connect to my company's VPN using the Cisco client, I am
able to successfully get a connection, but then I can't bring up any
network resources.  I can't terminal in to a remote machine or run any
applications that use network data.  When I connect my cable modem directly
to the internet without the router, the VPN works fine.

Any help would be appreciated!
