PANASONIC Edit Plug

PANASONIC Edit Plug

Post by Eric CLA » Thu, 06 Jun 1996 04:00:00

I have seen an article concerning the SONY control-s port in this group, so I
suppose that I can post mine here to :

I have a PANASONIC VCR NVS7E, with an Edit plug, and I would like to be able to
control the VCR with my computer.

Does anybody knows how the Edit Plug works :
- what is the communication protocol ?
- what are the electrical levels ?

Panasonic doesn't help me at all ....(amazing, no ?)

I think you are talking about the V-Lan port which is a RS-422. Try Videomedia in
San-Jose at (408)227-6707. They sell converter, interface and software. Good luck

The Panasonic Control-M signal is a 19200 bps serial protocol.   I
think it is a ttl level signal on a five pin connector.  There is a
ground, signal lines and a control pulse line that gives 60Hz (or
50Hz) control pulses from the VCR control track.  I've got some
information from a German magazine at home that describes it.

Ispeaken ze deutsch??  (obviously I don't!)

1. Edit & replace pdetext elements from inside a plug in

Hi there,

I have read a few various posts on the web about this ... for the most part
the answers seems to be do not try.

Has anyone got any experience of this ?  Of actually managing to do this ?

I have tried various methods ... of replacing the text.

Using PDEReplace ...

Of creating a new pdetext element removing the old one and inserting the new
one.
with some success ... Just not enough ...

Any idea's anyone ... any resources ... any thoughts apart from do not try
it!
