Cyrus IMAPd (v1.5) permissions problems..

Post by KC Smi » Thu, 12 Mar 1998 04:00:00

A sun running Cyrus imapd v1.5 recently fell into my lap, and
I'm having a heck of a time getting it working correctly with
any new accounts I create.

running "lam user.accountname" says it has lrswipcda.

If I try and send mail to accountname on this machine, it doesn't get
delivered.. the logs show this:

Mar 11 11:59:28 ming deliver[5846]: IOERROR: opening
        /var/imap/mailboxes: Permission denied

# ls -ld /var/imap/mailboxes
-rw-------   1 cyrus    mail       14331 Mar 11 11:35
        /var/imap/mailboxes

Is this a simple permissions problem on the file?  If so, what should
the perms be? If not.. can anyone point me in the right direction as to
what my problem is? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like deliver isn't setuid Cyrus.  Make sure that
/usr/cyrus/bin/deliver is owned by the cyrus-user (probably "cyrus") and is
setuid 4750.

1. Cyrus-Imapd-v1.5.19

I setup Cyrus-Imapd-v1.5.19 on RedHat 6.1 to provide POP3 and IMAP
service, both them run OK within inetd daemon process. But in normal
progress ,I find imap can only establish about 70 connections with
client, then imap port 143 will down, port 143 can not establish
connection more.About after tens of minutes , it will come up itself .
The phenomenon of POP3 service is likely,POP3 port will down after
about 40 client connections.
Because imap and pop3 provide service within inetd daemon process,I can
only monitor their port to judge if them are running.
Who can help me!I heard of Cyrus is a good freeware, but why performance
is bad.
