Eudora 5.1.1 pd mode OSX crashing

Post by Gregory Fitzgera » Sun, 04 May 2003 05:56:38

Anyone having this experience?

Normal install of Eudora 5.1.1 paid mode on OS X 10.2.5.  Whenever the
user clicks on the Address Book the app crashes.  X is left untouched but
it is a pain to have to keep relaunching Eudora.  Also, unistall and
reinstall fails to correct the problem.  The Address Book was imported
from OS 9.2.1 and works in so far as messages may be addressed properly
using the auto complete function of Eudora.

any ideas??

If it was running in 9 I'd bet on a corrupt settings file. May well be the
case in 10. Trash and remake (and keep a working copy safe) is the usual
fix.

Known issue with 5.1.1 and was introduced with 10.2.4 update.

Updating to Eudora 5.2.1 resolves it.

1. migrate from OSX eudora 5.2 to OSX 5.2.1 -- mailboxes not recognized

I am attempting to migrate all of my eudora mail folders over to a new
Eudora installation.  The old stuff is on an OS9.xx partition (in
systems folder) accessed via an alias in the OS X partition (Eudora
running in 10).  On my new computer I just copies the Eudora folder
over to the "Documents" folder and started Eudora by clicking on my
old settings (I actually ZIPPED the whole folder and FTPed it over).
Eudora starts OK and knows all about me and my file directory
structure but does not seem to recognize any of the mailboxes.  I get
the following error:

"Sorry, but that doesn't seem to be a mailbox"
{45:203}

The mailboxes all look like plain text, so I don't get it.  A few
hours searching google with the error message and various permutations
of it also does not help.

Direct replies to my email address would be appreciated....I will post
a summary with the error message in the subject line so others can
solve the same porblem.

Thanks.  Tony
