Question on mhstore

Post by Arth » Wed, 08 May 2002 08:57:01

Hopefully this is a beginner question which someone will be able to help me with.

I'm using nmh-1.04. A friend of mine sends me a message which has:

Content-type application/octet-stream
Content-description: larswm-7.0.14
Content-transfer-encoding: base64

Running mhlist gives me:

Multipart/mixed
Text/plain
application/octet-stream: larswm-7.0.14

I do mhstore -msg# -part#.

larswm-7.0.14 gets saved as 243.2.octet-stream.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to save the attachment with the
name of the attachment ie larswm-7.0.14?

Thanks

mhstore -auto

will preserve the component name.  But if add a "-part", that might
not work.

If I'm doing it correctly. that doesn't appear to work for me:

(Message wy:243)
panix1.panix.com: /net/u/1/a/aalinovi $ mhlist
 msg part  type/subtype              size description
243       multipart/mixed           192K
    1     text/plain                 212
    2     application/octet-stream  142K larswm-7.0.14
panix1.panix.com: /net/u/1/a/aalinovi $ mhstore -auto
storing message 243 part 1 as file 243.1.txt
storing message 243 part 2 as file 243.2.octet-stream

A message can have a description and a name.  Apparently in your
case, the component has a description but no name.  The "-auto" works
when it has a name.

Yes, it would be very nice if someone could add Content-Disposition
  (RFC 2183) handling to nmh.

1. mhstore won't nmh-storage where I want it to

Hi,

After setting nmh-storage in my ~/.mh_profile to a folder other than
$HOME, it will insist on storing its files into $HOME. I'm using  1.0.4
nmh, with a commandline like:

mhstore -auto -type application/msword +folder msg_no

I've even tried setting the other nmh-xx vars that don't seem to relate,
with no success either. I have set $MHSTORE, first to point at
~/.mh_profile then to point at a different file containing the nmh-storage
variable, with equal failure. Can anyone suggest a solution/reason?

thankyou,
joel
