I think there is a preference you can set to disable that disconnect.

Check Special->Settings->OT/PPP, "Disconnect ... OT/PPP if
Eudora connected it".

I think it's Special->Settings->OT/PPP and MacSLIP.

Uncheck "Disconnect MacSLIP or OT/PPP if Eudora connected it."

1. Eudora Light 3.1.3 crashing under MacOS 8.6

   For the last couple of months, Eudora Light 3.1.3 has been crashing
increasingly often under MacOS 8.6 (beige G3, 96MB RAM).  I run Norton
CrashGuard 4.0.3, and it returns "Miscellaneous Error--System Hardware
Exception" as Eudora crashes.  This happens most often when I start
Eudora, but it also happens when it checks for new mail (from a POP
server).
   I've tried the obvious stuff, such as trashing "Eudora Settings",
increasing the memory allocation, and even downloading the installer and
reinstalling, but the problem persists or even worsens.  I do have a lot
of archived mail in my Eudora Folder (~22MB); could this be part of the
problem?
   Is there a known conflict between Eudora Light 3.1.3 and MacOS 8.6 or
any common third-party extensions?  I don't have Conflict Catcher, but I
don't think I'm running anything too fishy.  And I keep my hard drive
clean with Norton DiskDoctor 4.0.1 and Norton AntiVirus 5.0.3 (with the
latest definitions).
   Thanks so much for any advice.
