Setting up a mail server with windows 2000

Post by ELCI » Thu, 15 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hi there.  I am a newbie at setting up mail servers, adn would like to
know if any kind soul could give me a hand at attemping to set one up.
I have the following

windows 2000
Static IP
ArgoSoft Mail
Registered my own domain name pointing to my static IP

could anyone give me some help/hints links on how to set one up.  I
have tried setting it up under ArgoSoft Mail but it just wont accept
any emails that are send to it.  It bounces the ail back to the sender
with the following error message " user not local, relay not allowed"
Although i have added the user locally, etc, and the log/pass do works
as i can telnet to my box, so it appears ok.  In fact, you can send
mail to it from anywhere else, Argosoft does Check for the mail, it
tries to deliver it, but then bounces it back to the sender.  Could
anyone please give me any ideas or suggestions??  THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I

This is usenet group for Sendmail MTA not generaly for e-mail
servers. But if you want good, secure and strong MTA, than visit
http://www.sendmail.com.  They have Sendmail for winNT and I've heard
that new version works on w2k thing. It is still cheaper than M$
"software", (but have MUCH better quality).

Reformat your hard drive, then install Linux with sendmail.

1. WINDOWS 2000 FREEZE-UPS!

OBVIOUSLY WIN2000 has a problem with NetMeeting hang ups.

Does anyone have a clear idea as to WHY this is happening and WHY MickeySoft
does not care to help us?

I have gone so far as to reformat my HDD and reinstall all programs and I
still have hangups once two-way video is established. Logitech is no help,
telling me it is a Windows problem. Great.

Logitech 3000 cam works great in its stand-alone application.

I hate this kind of shit.

HELP ME, PLEASE!

Reply,

T. D. Ponder

Thanks a bunch, in advance.
