Problems with NTT Japan DSL and Windows 2000/ NetMeeting.

Post by robertlaferla\" » Thu, 11 Jul 2002 03:48:46

I have friends in Tokyo, Japan with NTT Flet's DSL.  They can't use
NetMeeting for audio/video for some reason.  I suspect that it's a NAT
issue but I'm not sure how to fix it.  If there is anyone in Japan that
could help, please send me an e-mail.

BTW - I think NTT uses PPoE software for Windows.  Perhaps, someone
could recommend a low-cost router that handles H323 and works with NTT's
DSL service.

Thanks,
Robert

If their dsl modem is NAT based there is nothing you can from behind it.

If the IP as show in the help about box of Netmeeting is from the private
set 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16/31.x.x you are a behind a NAT.

1. Sound problem Windows XP Home <-> Windows 2000 Pro

Hi. I have the following problem.

User (A) has Windows XP Home (NL) installed. Her computer has 160 Mb. RAM
and 1.8 Gb. free HD space.
User (B) has Windows 2000 Pro (Eng) installed. His computer has 128 Mb. RAM
ans 300 Mb. free HD space.

When user (A) connects to a Windows 98 user with Netmeeting, both sound and
video are received well on the Win 98 machine.
When user (A) connect to the Windows 2000 user with Netmeeting, the sound is
hackeling (stottering) as soon as her video signal runs. When she switches
off the video signal, the sound is fine.

We have tried different microphone, soundcard and PCI slots. Didn't solve
it.

Has anybody seen this happening before and what is the possible solution?

Thanks.
