Vol 64 Issue 4 2003-06-23  Article 10272 from section "Sun ONE"

An Integrated Environment with an Array of Tools

The Sun[TM] ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition (formerly
Sun[TM] ONE Developer Platform) is an integrated development and test
platform, including tools and server software, as well as a full range
of sample applications, blue prints and developer scenarios tailored for
        multiple developer roles.

The integrated installation significantly reduces complexity for the
developer by providing a developer-optimized installation of the
complete development environment. It provides ISVs with a robust
infrastructure platform to easily build their applications.

The Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition provides both
integrated tools and middleware servers and leverages the latest
Java[TM] technology, XML and Web Services standards.

It uses Sun[TM] ONE Studio software (formerly Forte[TM] for Java[TM]) as
the "cockpit" for all developer activities.

The Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition addresses key IT
management issues such as lowering IT costs, the proliferation of
developer roles, the ability to leverage existing information assets
into Web Services and the ability for developers to work across multiple
        disparate technology bases.

The Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition provides developers
a 360-degree view into the entire development process.

The tools of Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition are built
on top of the NetBeans[TM] platform to maximize developer productivity.

1. SN#9358 Sun Releases Sun[TM] ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition

SYSTEM NEWS FOR SUN USERS
Vol 61 Issue 3 2003-03-17  Article 9358 from section "Sun ONE"

Lists for Under $1,000 with Six-month Promotional Street Price

Sun chose the recent Web Services Edge Conference in Boston to announce its
Sun[TM] ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition, available at a single
price and complete in a single install, that enables developers to create
Java[TM] technology-based Web Services enterprise applications. This
platform integrates development-ready Sun[TM] ONE servers and Java
     technology developer tools.

The new platform comprises an integrated suite of development tools,
including the integrated development environment (IDE), portal, network
identity, application and integration server functionality. Because the
platform provides a single, developer-optimized installation, it can
significantly reduce complexity for the developer. The plug-ins that extend
the Sun[TM] ONE Studio IDE functionality are pre-installed, and the
platform tools and development-ready servers are licensed for unlimited
development up to the proof-of-concept stage.

The individual components of the Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer
Edition represent a $36,000 value but are being offered for a six-month
period beginning April 1, 2003, for a promotional street price under
     $1,000.

Future releases of the Sun ONE Web Services Platform Developer Edition will
implement Sun's Java Business Integration Java Specification Request (JSR),
WS-I Web Services Profiles and other key emerging integration standards.
