Full Duplex 2 Gigabit Ethernet Bandwidth

The Sun Fire[TM] B10n Content Load Balancing Blade is the first
specialty blade optimized for the Sun Fire[TM] B1600 Blade Platform. It
provides essential traffic and content management functionalities. It is
designed, tuned and tested as a seamless function running on the Blade
Platform for increased availability while lowering costs and reducing
        complexity.

        New Features
           - Full duplex 2 Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth
           - Server load balancing based on server loads, response times and
             weighted round robin algorithms
           - Content load balancing based on URL, Cookie and CGI
           - Server to Client direct response
           - Service failover support, monitors blade servers and in case of
failure, moves traffic to active blade
           - Supported by N1 provisioning server
           - The Load balancing module plugs directly into the Sun Fire B1600
Blade Platform and interacts with the two Switch and System
Controllers (SSC) via the passive backplane
           - Supports Centralized/Distributed topology
           - Supports multiple operating systems for architectural flexibility

Before using the Sun Fire B10n Content Load Balancing Blade, the system
needs to meet the following hardware and software requirements:

           - Hardware: Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis

           - Software: Solaris[TM] 8 HW 03 Operating System (Solaris OS),
             Solaris 9 OS or Linux

1. SN#9103 Sun Fire[TM] B1600 Blade Chassis Supports SPARC[R] Processor, x86, Specialty Blades

SYSTEM NEWS FOR SUN USERS
Vol 61 Issue 2 2003-03-10  Article 9103 from section "Servers"

Sun has made the Sun Fire[TM] B1600 Blade Chassis, its first Enterprise
Blade Platform, available to the market, along with the Sun Fire[TM] B100s
Blade server. Designed for Tier 0 and Tier 1 applications, the Sun Fire
B1600 is also an excellent candidate system for a horizontally scaled
environment. The new product offers the Solaris[TM] 8 Operating Environment
(Solaris OE) HW 12/02 Update for the SPARC[R] platform with optional
     factory integration.

     The platform consists of:

     - Intelligent Shelf (Chassis with integrated Gigabit Ethernet Switch &
       System Controllers (SSC))
     - SPARC processor based and x86 general purpose Blade Servers
     - Load Balancing and SSL Proxy Specialty Blades
     - Sun StorEdge[TM] 3310 SCSI NAS array
     - N1 Provisioning Server 3.0

Among the new features of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade is its support for
SPARC, x86 and specialty blades, its greater than 5x density of current
one-rack units and its 10x improvement in network throughput performance as
a result of two separate Gigabit connections to each blade and a 10Gbpsec
switch fabric. Redundant power supplies ensure higher availability.

The Sun Fire B100s Blade server is designed to fit into the Sun Fire B1600
Chassis. It runs Solaris 8 OE and contains a 30 GB disk, Advanced Lights
Out Manager and up to 2 GB of memory in a small footprint.
