"Jon Bosak, a distinguished engineer at Sun, delivered a
rousing, provocative keynote address at the conference,"
reported Kammie Kayl, in an article about XML 2000. "The
overall message of his presentation focused on Sun's vision
for web services, their importance to the world today, the
technologies on which they will be built, and how they are
        used."

"Bosak first introduced service APIs as a key foundational
piece of the service-driven network. The service-driven
network is defined as the ways in which various devices from
legacy clients, such as PCs, to modern clients, such as PDAs,
cell phones, and cars, interact together across the network to
form a service grid. Examples of web services in this grid
might include auctioning, buying, selling, ordering, and
        financial services."
