User unknown: errors receiving from Internet

Guru's etc...

I have just about pulled my last hair out (quite a feat, actually)....

THE SETUP:

I have an NT 4.0 (SP2) Server and an MS Exchange 4.0 (SP3) running in an
ethernet environment, dual-pentium, 64 meg RAM, blah blah blah.......

I have the IMC set up with my "Address Space--->New Internet-->SMTP"
fields blank..so I can send all of my non-inhouse stuff to the
Internet....I can *send* to everyone and their brother in-law :)

I can ping, traceroute, nslookup, to my server.

PROBLEM BELOW:

The problem is that I can not RECEIVE from anyone.. (well I did once but
that is when I set the SMTP server for my pine client on a UNIX box to
the FQDN of my exchange server..very tricky..but for the other millions
of users out there it doesn't do any good)...

All I get when I send from pine <see below for excerpt> is the
Mailer-daemon responding "User Unknown"...what--pray-tell am I doing
wrong?  I have checked the server log..but can't find any help there..

It looks like "raven.med.unc.edu" is expecting to find a user named:

Go to configuration:site addressing and click the site addressing tab. See
what the SMTP address is there. Edit it if you want to read as you want. By
