Exchange 2000 installation

Post by Calin Le » Sun, 12 Aug 2001 03:06:53

Hi,

The question is this: Can I install Exchange in a non domain environment? In
other words without using a Domain Controler with Active Directory?

No.

However you can have a single server running as the only domain controller
and the Exchange server for your network. Domain membership requirement is
there because of directory service requirements. Exchange 2000 doesn't have
a directory service, it requires Active Directory.

Thanks.

I knew it, and I was afraid this is going to be the answer. I needed a
confirmation though.

Thanks again,

Calin.

1. SRS Installation Errors during Exchange 2000 Installation

During the first Exchange 2000 Server install with a
connection to an existing 5.5 organization/site, I
received the following errors during the
creation/configuration of SRS. The ADC is installed and
worked fine, but this install keeps dying.

Any info would be appreciated.
