is there an automated way of creating a mail account for all the users
of the domain?

Yes, directory import. Open the Exchange Administrator program,
and first use the Tools +AHw- Extract Windows NT Users function. Then
feed the list you get to the Tools +AHw- Directory Import function, and
you have a mailbox for all of your NT users. You can also change the
information in the import file and settings for the different functions
to control the way the mailboxes are created, plus you can use a
template to specify default settings for all the users.
