I am having to re-install Exchange 2K on our front-end
server.  Prior to the re-install, I could not successfully
remove Exchange using the setup utility so I have
performed the steps detailed in MSKB Q278918 and Q260378..

Upon the re-install, it hangs in the setup process
starting Exchange MSExchange_SA service..

I have formatted the server, and reinstalled  W2k, patches
(SP3), with a different name, and it still hangs at this
same place.

Any any and all help certainly appreciated, as I do not
want to re-install my backend server.

Deb,

Look in your application log for errors on the SA.

Also review the Exchange server setup progress log on your server and look
for errors.  That log is very large, so you might just go to the end and see
what was last logged.

Any related errors can be posted here to help us troubleshoot.

It is like there is something that I need to delete in the
schema????  I am pretty much stuck.  I have tried
installing Exchange server on another box with different
name, ip, etc. same thing..

Not seeing too much with those errors.  Whenever I see DSproxy events and
the SA will not start after installation, I typically look at the GC first.

Reboot your GC and then manually try to start the services.

You are wonderful, that seemed to work, services are
started.

Now, I have another problem.

Scenario:

When sending mail w/out FE server, I can send/receive
internet mail no problem.  I go to the firewall and change
the ip of the server object to be the FE server  instead
of the Exchange server on the private network.

I make the selection in System Manager for the FE server.  
Reboot the FE server.

Now I can receive internet mail no problem, but I cannot
send, it stays in the SMTP virtual server queue on the
backend server.

Any ideas???
