Delegate Access and Permissions using outlook and 5.5

Post by Dick Yocc » Fri, 06 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Using outlook as a client I am having a problem setting up delegate access
to share the calendar with other users. I can add a delegate but the
permissions area is greyed out. The designated delegate can't access the
clien who gave that person delegate functions. Help!!!

I assume you're using Exchange Server as your mail server?  Delegate
access is a function of the Exchange Server information service...

1. Retrieving Outlook account calendar appointments as delegate slow using Exchange 5.5

I need to log all appointment items for different accounts for which I have
delegate rights. My only option is to retrieve this info as an Outlook 98
client
and not by directly accessing the exchange 5.5 server using "Microsoft
Outlook 98 object msoutl85". However I find the performance of the code
below to be slow. Does anyone out there have a better method of retrieving
data from the exchange server through the client. Having to create a
Mapifolder instance takes time. Thanks in advance

Dim oOUTLOOK As New Outlook.Application
Dim oNAMESPACE As NameSpace
Dim oMAPIFOLDER As MAPIFolder
Dim RSSchedule As Recordset 'local Access DB table recordset to contain
appointment items
Dim RSAccounts As Recordset 'local Access DB table containing account names

Do

    Set oNAMESPACE = oOUTLOOK.GetNamespace("MAPI")

       Set oMAPIFOLDER = oNAMESPACE.Folders("Mailbox - " &
RSAccounts!Name).Folders("Calendar")
           For iCntr = 1 To oMAPIFOLDER.Items.Count
                With RSSchedule
                    .AddNew
                    !ConferenceRoomID = iConferenceRoomID
                    !Location = CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Location)
                    !StartDate = CDate(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Start)
                    !EndDate = CDate(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).End)
                    !StartTime = oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Start
                    !EndTime = oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).End
                    !Subject = CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Subject)
                    !Body.AppendChunk CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Body)
                    !Resources = CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Resources)
                    !OptionalAttendees =
CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).OptionalAttendees)
                    !RequiredAttendees =
CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).RequiredAttendees)
                    !MeetingStatus =
CInt(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).MeetingStatus)
                    !Importance = CInt(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Importance)
                    !Organizer = CStr(oMAPIFOLDER.Items(iCntr).Organizer)
                    .Update
                End With
           Next

       Set oMAPIFOLDER = Nothing

       RSAccounts.MoveNext

Loop Until RSAccounts.EOF
