I am having problems installing the Exchange 5.0 Server service on a Compaq
laptop running NT40/SP3 running Outlook97. The install copies all files
then stops responding during the "updating system" portion of the install.
The user I am using to do the install has administative privileges on the
machine.
What could be causing this problem? I haven't had problems in the past
installing on NT40 workstations.

If it's the Exchange server, try sutting down the Server portions prior to
the install. Works for me.
