I am using exchagne 2000 servers in my organization. Its total of three
server. One connected with Internet with a WAN link of 64k, and the three
servers in separate sites connected with eachother via WAN link of 64k and
Routing group connectors were configured. Two servers were forwarding
internet emails to one server which was sending to Internet.
All of sudden, server connected to internet stops functioning. Although all
services were started and no error was logged in Event viewer but message
were not being transferred between my offices as well as to Internet. In
SMTP queue, it was showing couldnt contact with remote SMTP server, although
DNS is working fine and if i telnet remote SMTP server on port 25 from the
server machine, it was successful. I restarted SMTP virtual server, and also
restarted the server but to no success. I also checked for any possible
virus but again no success, then i created another SMTP virtual server, and
stopped default one, then it started functioning but the other day, the
same thing happen again.
I again created another SMTP virtual server but it behaves the same from
start so I created SMTP connector to Internet and SMTP connector between my
sites as well, now its working but sometimes gives problem like

The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a
specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact
your system administrator.
Although its an internal user on another site and server. I am also getting
this error on Internet users as well.
I also sometimes get following error:
The following recipient could not be reached:
Your mail system could not find a way to successfully
communicate with the destination system. Please notify your administrator.
Pls look into this and help me out
