http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q253/2/16.ASP

does anyone which buffer this article refers to & how to check it?  I
run a multi-processor machine, & this is pretty scary.  But they don't
tell you how to know if you're susceptible.  I've been burned before
quite badly by hotfixes that weren't regression-tested, so i'm not
inclined to install it if I'm not at risk.

the only post-SP3 hotfix i have right now is the Jan. 21 q248838
hotfix, v.5.5.2651.76 info store.

It would be the buffer used by your backup program. I suppose you'd
call the vendor an ask if you didn't know.

I suppose you can always stop the Exchange services and run ESEFILE on
the databases to check for problems.

Which had it's own set of problems. That fix now brings the store to
version 5.5.2652.42 as of May 10, 2000.

i did better & called MS.  The thought that a backup wouldn't fail on a
corrupt page is quite scary.. i'd hate to keep going.  They said that
while you wouldn't get any 1018's or anything showing up in the App
Log, you would get an error during the backup that mentions
edbbcli.dll, so at least you'd know something was wrong.

i was aware of the new release but want to wait until it's been out a
bit longer.. i'm not having any problems with what I have.  I did
install it a few days ago on a test one.
Do you recommend it?

Where can I get the new store version?  I can't seem to find it on MS's
site.  Thanks!

It's happened before. The ESE folks neglected to caclulate the
checksum on multiprocessor machines. I think that was in SP2. They
were terribly embarrassed.

I've been using it since May 11th with no ill effects. But my servers
aren't your servers. If it passes your tests then use it. If you don;t
need any of the fixes then don't use it.

Besides fixing things like the AVAPI it also delivers a new ISINTEG
that's capable of correcting item counts and folder sizes.

1. Scary MTA things in the event log

Can anyone help me with a fix or a better understanding for the following 4
events I have found in the event log?  I have Exchange 5.0 (no SP), on NT4
SP3.  This server does not have any noticable Exchange problems yet, and I
would like to tidy up the server before it gets any worse.  I have both
B.O. resource kits and am trying to decide what the best plan of attack may
be.  I don't know if SP1 will fix or cloud the problem.

Any ideas?
